This review is from: Morgan
(Paperback)
Rolf Lyon has spun a wonderful tale fleshing out
the historically understood skeleton of Captain Morgan and
delivers to us a human being. A living, breathing man full of
contradictions, insecurities, flaws, mastery, and bravado then
emerges from the primordial sea of buccaneer legend. A fast
read even for it's size, the well paced story draws the reader
in and keeps one in irons.
While many books in this
genre tend to focus on the cold hard historical facts and
technical aspects of the day, "Morgan" treats the reader to a
living world of flesh and bone men (and women) with all their
strengths and weaknesses. It's a human story, not just a
treatment of fact.
At the end of this part of Morgan's
life I was left wanting to hear more and know more about this
amazing man. Hopefully Mr. Lyon will continue to breath life
into Morgan with more historically accurate tales following
the captain, his men and his women!
